The PEACE program has been developed to:

  • address the needs of children and youth aged 3 to 18 years who have been exposed to violence and abuse in their family homes, after they are out of the abusive situation

  • help parents understand how violence and abuse affects their children

  • raise community awareness through violence prevention education

Group counselling
aims to:

  • let children know they’re not alone or at fault

  • provide a safe place to talk about feelings

  • teach problem-solving and coping skills

  • help end cycles of violent or aggressive behaviour

  • teach personal safety

  • teach healthy ways to express feelings such as anger, hurt or sadness

  • identify causes and effects of violence and abuse

  • look at common myths about violence and abuse

Individual counselling is provided for children who:

  • are not yet ready for group

  • may benefit from additional one-to-one counselling
